The 29th annual Easter Ride, a one day bicycle tour sponsored by the Folks on Spokes bicycle club, will be held Sunday on
April 18, 2010.
Pre-registration is available online, through Active.com, and by mail.
The cost is $15 until April 4th, then $20 after April 4th. Registration tables will be open from 7:30 am to 10:00am.on the ride date.
Since 1982 the Easter Ride has continually grown in popularity. It was listed as the Best Biking in America
in Bicycling Magazines April 1999 issue, and it has just gotten better each year.
Drawing hundreds of riders each year, the ride is large enough to seem
to be professionally run, yet small enough
to really enjoy.
Every year, the ride gets better and this year is no exception.
The success of this invitational ride enables our Club to make generous donations to the League of American
Bicyclists, League of Illinois Bicyclists, Active Transportation Alliance,
and the Indiana Bicycle Coalition.
Pick one of Five routes through pastoral farmlands, wildflower filled woods, and friendly towns. Each route, 16, 25, 35, 45, and 68 miles (Actual route availability and mileage may vary) follows lightly traveled paved roads, and is fully marked. All routes leave from Governor's State University.
Food and fun is what the Easter Ride is all
about. Rest stops along the route provide riders with
fruit, drinks, sandwiches (including Easter egg salad sandwiches),
and homemade cookies. Some of the rest stops will also
have live musical entertainment.
From start to finish, the FOS crew will be working
hard to help make your ride enjoyable.
Your entry fee entitles you to a map of your route,
access to all rest stops, SAG support, and parking.
When you pre-register for the ride you will be
able to order T-shirts with the 2010 Easter Ride logo.
As usual we'll have both Long sleeved and Short sleeved 100% cotton
T-shirts with the Easter Ride logo on the front. A limited
number of T-shirts will be available to purchase on the day of the
ride.
Your safety is important to us, so please obey
all traffic laws, practice rider courtesy, communicate with fellow
riders, and remain riding single-file when vehicles are approaching
from either direction.
Folks on Spokes Bicycle Club requires that all
riders wear a Snell or ANSI approved bicycling helmet.
Governor's State University is loacted in University Park,
Illinois. Entrance to the University is on Stuenkel Road,
about 1.5 miles east of Illinois route 50and about 5 miles south
of US 30. From I-57, use the exit just south of US 30, which

then follow the map to Stuenkel Road entrance. Here is a map.
