I'm planning on joining. I want to get into biking more seriously, hopefully beginning to bike to work at Marian Catholic this summer and next year.

I live on Ash Street in Park Forest. Wondering how safe members feel Western Avenue is? What would be the safest route to Marian Catholic, corner of Joe Orr Rd. and Ashland Ave. in Chicago Heights?

How safe do you consider Joe Orr?

Thanks!

I have been riding in Kankakee River State Park the past 7 years. It is much more difficult than the flat Old Plank Trail or I&M trail. I have been riding low miles, only 11 miles each ride, so it may take awhile to build up to longer trips. My speed now is 10 to 12 mph, but may be higher on the flatter terrain. I would like to find people for weeknight rides, or Saturday rides, from Matteson. Saturday mornings from Frankfort would work too, but I didn't see anything going on at this time. Sunday morning is in conflict with church.

[face=Arial][/face]
I am Terry and from Mokena. I took up riding about 5 years ago as an alternative to running. I went from a cheap Mountain Bike from Target to a really nice Hybrid, to my new Carbon Fiber Road bike, which I have yet to get out on. I am always looking for riders on the Old Plank Trail. I ride in the evenings after work (25 miles) and on both weekend days weather permitting. I will do 35-50 miles depending on other things I have to do. I do get out to the Cook County trails and I do want to try the I&M trail this year. Email me if anyone just wants to get out and put on some miles. Tpaggi@me.com.
Terry
