Useful Definitions
Anti-seize compound
A lubricant used to both lubricate and prevent parts from sticking together because of oxidation or other processes. Available at bike shops or any hardware store.
Gel-seat
bike seats come in all styles and varieties depending on rider preference. The gel seat is a seat which has a cover filled with a thick layer of silicone gel. This type of seat provides a soft, yielding ride as opposed to the traditional hard, narrow, leather seats common on racing bikes.

Quick Release
locking mechanism used to quickly release the bike wheel, seat or other component. When closed, the quick release lever should be parallel and facing downwards to minimize the possibility of the release lever being caught and released by road hazards. illustration
