First Spring Fling a BIG Success

On June 6, 2021, the multiple volunteers from Folks on Spokes, with an assist from Major Taylor of Chicago, were able to host the first ever Spring Fling. Like the Easter Ride, this invitational was the first big ride of the season. Unlike the past Easter Ride, we had GREAT weather. There were 122 riders, both individuals and from several clubs including Joliet Bicycle Club, Major Taylor of Chicago, and Black Girls Do Bike. We appreciate everyone who turned out "post-pandemic".

There were 41 entries into the raffle "What happened on June 6, 1944?"  (Answer: D-day, or as one rider pointed out, Operation Overlord), but only one winner of the $25 gift certificate from Hickory Creek Brewery in New Lenox. Congratulations to Gary from Markham.

Riders at the Monee Blue Gill rest stop were serenaded by the Elwood Ukulele Group. (YES! Ukulele music!)

Ron from FNA Bicycles in New Lenox was on hand at the start of registration to help with filling up tires. Our SAG drivers were ready to SAG but nobody needed to SAG. We had cookies, lots of cookies. Thank you bakers!

Looking forward to next year. The tentative date for the Second Spring Fling will be Sunday June 5th, 2022.
