Give Yourselves a Pat on the Back
for Another Successful Spring Fling!

Thank_you.jpg

We had 118 riders this year. Many rode with us last year and commented that those hills on Bemes Road did not get any easier over the winter! The Monee Reservoir once again entertained riders with music by the Elwood Garden Ukulele band. Wes Cunningham was our Gatorade mixologist and brew-master.  John Victor was our gourmet peanut butter and jelly chef. We had pickle juice this year, back by popular demand. Thank you, Lee, for keeping the Monee SAG stop running smoothly.

Most riders had the option to rest at Plum Valley Nature Preserve, also known as The Dog Park. This is a great spot with a shelter, picnic tables and a bathroom.  There is also a very peaceful view of trees and meadows to enjoy and a walking path for anyone needing to stretch.   Refreshments included P&J sandwiches prepared by Irene and Andi, fruit, cookies donated by members, muffins, granola and drinks.  The riders all seemed to be having a great time.  And why not???  The day was perfect for cycling.   Thank you, Kathy, for leading the Plum Valley rest stop and Irene, for sharing your wisdom from chairing past rest stops.

Also, a great big thank you to the volunteers who helped our Club host another successful invitational.  When members donate their time and cookies, they are helping to promote cycling in the area.  Proceeds from rides like ours are used to encourage a love of cycling through donations to local clubs, Ride Illinois and others.
