Donut Ride to Old Fashioned Donuts

On August 8, Amy, Lois and John rode approximately twenty miles on the Major Taylor Trail to Old Fashioned Donuts in Roseland. Along the way they added an unplanned side trip from Whistler Woods to Old Western Av via the Cal Sag trail. The combined routes totaled about 26 miles. The weather was perfect for a bike ride. Most likely everyone was happy to crash afterwards.

Ice Cream Ride

This year we decided to try something different. We met on the Plank Trail off Cicero and rode our bikes to Frankfort. Destination: The Farmer's Market and Raffy's Ice Cream, just off the square. Four members rode bikes, two walked over and five drove their cars to meet up for a delicious treat and conversation. Ice cream was really good! We also had plenty of time to walk around the market. Weather was good, although a little steamy.

Beverly Home Tours Ride

At the "Watering Hole" - Horse Thief Hollow

VP Lois joined the Forest Preserve of Cook County's ride on the Major Taylor Trail from Dan Ryan Woods to Whistler Woods. On the return, we detoured to "Old Fashioned Donuts" on Michigan Ave in Roseland.

There we watched donut production, endured a LONG line of customers, and finally enjoyed a tasty treat outside.
Riders said they were the best donuts in Chicago, especially the apple fritters. Yum.
