Let‘s bike from La Rabida Hospital to Navy Pier. Free Parking at La Rabida. Flat, easy 20 mi round trip. Can visit Navy Pier and indulge in adult beverages if inclined. Maybe diverge to Northerly Island. Easy, fun ride. Let‘s start 10:30 AM.
Riverside METRA Station (NOT RIVERWOODS)
We will view Prairie=style architecture in Riverside and Brookfield, including the extensive Avery and Queene Ferry Cooley Estate and Playhouse designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. We will stop at the Chicago Portage National Historic Site. Lunch will be at Brookfield Breakfast with an option ice cream stop at the end. Joanne Davis and Bruce Miller from Evanston Bike club at lead: biking distance 12 miles at a moderate pace. (10:30 AM SHARP)
A slow, self-guided ride, approx 10 mi from South 87th-119th and Western Ave to Longwood Dr.
BAPA’s Beverly/Morgan Park Home Tour returns Sunday, May 19, with five fabulous private residences and a local institution giving visitors an inside look at some of our community’s most beautiful structures.
Among the highlights this year, you’ll explore the unique ways local homeowners have:
preserved their elegant historic homes;
blended unique original architectural elements with contemporary kitchen and bath updates;
and transformed modest footprint with efficient and appealing additions.
Visitors will enjoy Home Tour hospitality at each stop, with tastings from local eateries and brewpubs, decorating tips, neighborhood history, and more.
